If you don’t want to use tablets on your plants, you can also go for a motion solar-powered ultrasonic repeller  cats.  A repellant like this can detect movement within their range and will emit an ultrasonic sound that will repel cats.  This sound will be too high-pitched for human ears but it still works on cats because they have such sensitive ears. 

Some of these ultrasonic repellents also have a light feature that will flash and scare away both animal and human intruders. 

Lastly, there are also some crystal cat and dog repellents that you can scatter all over your garden.  What’s great about these is that you don’t have to think about where to place an unsightly piece of equipment on your front lawn.  Scatter crystals will take a little less than a month to biodegrade.
